Boston College visits Florida State as the Seminoles look to bounce from a tough Week 0 loss. Here are the odds and predictions for Boston College vs. Florida State.
Florida State is reeling after a rough start to 2024 despite finishing the 2023 season undefeated with an ACC title. Their exclusion from the College Football Playoff was followed by a humiliating 63-3 bowl loss to Georgia. The ‘Noles then suffered a shocking defeat to unranked Georgia Tech in the 2024 season opener.
In contrast, Boston College is entering a new era under head coach Bill O’Brien. The Eagles went 7-6 last season and finished strong with a Fenway Bowl win over SMU. With some returning starters and a refreshed coaching staff, expectations are rising in Chestnut Hill as they look to build on their momentum.

Betting Trends & Line Movements
Florida State struggled to cover large spreads last season, missing the mark on five of their nine double-digit spreads, including an outright loss to Georgia Tech as a heavy favorite in their 2024 opener. In contrast, Boston College has covered three of their last four spreads as underdogs against AP-ranked teams, including a narrow 31-29 loss to FSU in 2023.
The line for their upcoming matchup opened with FSU as a -23 favorite but has plummeted to -16.5 following FSU’s disappointing start, reflecting shifting confidence in the Seminoles.
Boston College vs. Florida State Prediction
It feels a bit crazy to say, but I love this spot for Florida State. Currently, 75% of the tickets and 61% of the money are on Boston College. That’s a lot of action on a road dog against a nationally ranked-team in their home opener.
We were on Georgia Tech in the opener. But that is because they are an outstanding football team that only improves. That doesn’t mean Florida State is bad. Mike Norvell is an exceptional football coach. While the offense left much to be desired, one has to believe that the loss to Georgia Tech was a wake-up call for both sides of the ball.
Flordia State was shocked by how good Georgia Tech was in the trenches in Week 0, as I believe most opponents of the Yellow Jackets will be in the coming weeks. The ‘Noles will be much better against the run defensively against Boston College. I also believe Uiagalelei and this offense look much improved from Week 0.
The Prediction: Florida State 31 – Boston College 10
