Friday, Dec 29th: 3-1
Another solid day, and somehow the bowl game success continued although I hate bowl games. Today moves us to 8-2 in the last two days and 9-2 overall in bowl games. Let’s break down the day.
NCAAF
Kentucky +4.5 ✅
Memphis +10.5 ✅
Oregon State/ ND Under 40.5 ❌
Missouri +4.5 ✅
Clemson 38 – Kentucky 35
Kentucky +4.5 ✅
All things considered, this was a heck of a bowl game. And as much as I hate to see Dabo win any game ever, we’re happy to get the cover even though I thought UK deserved the win. It was a back-and-forth affair and Clemson scored with 15 seconds left to claim the win. Felt like the right side all day. Great start to the day.
Memphis 36 – Iowa State 26
Memphis +10.5 ✅
This was one of those lines that seem so off you start to talk yourself off of it and maybe into going the other direction. We knew Memphis had the better QB, RB, WRs, and O-line. We also knew their defense really struggles to get stops. But with this game being played in Memphis, I thought this would be Iowa State -4.5. But it didn’t even matter. Memphis jumped out to a 19-0 lead, and even though they let Iowa State back in the game, the number was never in doubt. Good win.
Notre Dame 40 – Oregon State 8
Oregon State/ ND Under 40.5 ❌
This was a bit frustrating. We knew Oregon State would struggle to score and to be honest, we thought ND might as well. I said multiple times that I saw this as a 17-3, 20-10 type of game. When it was 14-0 ND at the half, I still thought we were in good shape. But we were done in by a 34-point second half and a 24-point 4th quarter when the game was already decided. The game getting out of hand is what hurt us here. A loss is a loss but it’s one we can live with.
Missouri 14 – Ohio State 3
Missouri +4.5 ✅
Let me start off by saying, this was a horrible game to watch. This is what I imagine the Iowa Spring game is like. With that said, this play was mostly motivated by the fact that I trust Brady Cook as I have all season, and I think that Devin Brown and the Ohio State QB room is downright atrocious. To be honest, I truly do not understand how they don’t have higher-quality scholarship QBs at Ohio State. They proved me right today. Devin Brown was 4/6 for 20 yards and left with an ankle injury. He was replaced by Linocln Kienholz who came in and looked just as bad. A nice win with very little sweat to close the day.
